We have considerable capability in education, with world class tertiary institutions and schools focused on the common goal of excellence in education.
Education Wellington works with a membership base of more than 45 institutions, ranging from primary schools through to universities, to promote the Wellington region of New Zealand as a study destination for international students. We are a part of Grow Wellington, the regional economic development agency charged with the delivery of the economic aspects of the Wellington Regional Strategy.
The Wellington Regional Strategy is a sustainable growth strategy that has been developed by greater Wellington's nine local authorities, in conjunction with central government and the region's businesses, education, research and voluntary sector interests. The aim is to make greater Wellington "internationally competitive".
International students are an important part of our story. They play a vital role in knowledge creation and transfer, contribute significantly to the local economy and bring with them a global perspective, helping to build an internationally competitive Wellington.
